This product will add full control of air entering the oil cooler, thus giving the pilot some degree of control over the oil temperature. This basic product was offered for several years by another manufacturer, who ceased production. At this point we tooled up, made a few improvements to the rigidity, air flow, materials, and ease of operation. No restriction, when fully open these will flow 35% more air than the oil cooler will pass. The weight is only 5.5 oz. (a small price to pay for full control). The dimensions are 3.5” X 5.5” (against cooler opening), 4.5” X 6.5” (mounting flange), 7.75” to top of control arm. The thickness is .187”. This can put to rest, fears of flying with your oil temperatures too low for efficient engine operation in cold climates, and greatly cut warm-up time for take-offs in any climate. |

This oil cooler shutter works great! In freezing outside temperatures, my oil temp wouldnt go above 160-ish, which is not good for corrosion protection. On my test flight today, with OAT at 1C, shutter open, my oil temp was 162F. I closed the shutter, and the oil temps rose about 10F per minute, up to 202F. Awesome!! Its actuated by a push-pull cable (youll have to order a Bowden cable end from anti-splat), it can be fine-tuned for whatever cooling is required.
Works great
Anti-Splat Oil Cooler Air Control
Very nice workmanship
Anti-Splat Oil Cooler Air Control
Well made with smooth operation. Could come with cable and hardware but it is at a basic price. Shutter gave me tight control of the oil temperature without mods for an oil thermostat. Very happy with it!
Works well. Brought my oil temps up about 40 degrees. Relatively easy to install. Easy to operate in flight. My only complaint is that there is no guidance as to Which cable/B-nut to order. Obviously there are any number of control handles/cables to use (ie: carb heat) but no guidance as to which B-nut to use
This is a great product.......however it is incomplete as sold by Aircraft Spruce. To install it a way to attach a Bowden cable needs to be included. None of the hardware sold by Spruce will work, so I had to order from Anti-Splat the Bowden Cable connector made specifically for this application. It should be included with the shutter or at least stocked by Spruce and listed along with the shutter on the same page and recommended for purchase with the shutter.

Aluminum.
Yes, this goes on the opening for the oil cooler duct, so the brand of oil cooler does not have an impact.
Yes! You can mount it to the backside of your cooler with the basic same effectiveness and control. Many people do this and are very happy with their installation, and it is an easier job in some cases.
As is the travel would be .875 but this can be altered by drilling another pivot hole in the control arm at the location that's better fits your application.
The manufacturer has a bowden cable fitting that they recommend using. We can special order it for you. Please contact our sales department for a special order quote and lead time.
No it is not. It is intended for experimental aircraft only.
