Curtis Superior Valve is experienced in valve design and can help solve your valve problems. In most cases a standard Curtis Superior Valve will do the job. Or possibly a slight modification of a production unit will answer a specific problem. We will be glad to give you any assistance you may require with your Quick Drain Valve application.

MAINTENANCE / CMM

Curtis Superior Valves are designed for installation in a standard NPT port for NPT threaded valves or an AND-10050 stlye port for UNF threaded valves. Use a sealant on NPT threaded valves or a fuel resistant o-ring of the proper size for UNF threaded valves. Refer to aircraft manufacturers torque specifications for the aircraft in which it is being used. Curtis Superior Valves require no special maintenance. Keep them reasonably clean and replace according to the prescribed synthetic rubber maintenance schedule for the aircraft in which they are used or 10 year usable life per Curtis Superior Valve whichever occurs first. Curtis Superior Valves cannot be OVERHAULED. Replace the entire valve per the maintenance schedule of the aircraft in which it is used or usable life per Curtis Superior Valve should it begin to leak.

OVERHAUL

Due to the low replacement cost of Curtis Quick Drain Valves versus the cost of replacement seals, breakage of seals in overhaul installations and labor costs, it is not recommended they be overhauled. Replace the entire valve in accordance with the instructions in MAINTENANCE above or should they begin to leak.

Very high quality, replaces old clogged one, new one flows freely. Use a proper sized wrench to remove old, and bed the new with fuel resistant sealant, but one that you can remove again in 5 years. Dont over torque re-install.

It worked without leaking upon putting it in. Well see how long it lasts. These valves seem to have a variable service life based on my past experience. Some dont last a year and others last years.

Been buying these from Spruce for decades. They work great and last a long time. finally they leak or get stiff and it takes less time and is easier to replace them than rebuild the other type.

Q: I need a gasket for this Curtis CCA-1550 drain valve, where can I find the part number?

Per the manufacturer, replacement seals for these drain valves are no longer available. We do not recommend that they be overhauled. Replace the valve if it begins to leak.

Additionally, the valve is not recommended for halogenated hydrocarbons, nitro hydrocarbons, Phosphate ester hydraulic fluids, automotive brake fluids, ketone, ethers or alcohols. Fuels with additives such as alcohol or ether can cause premature deterioration of the seal rings.

Q: What is the difference between the CCA-1250 and the CCA-1550?

CCA-1250 is spiral, twist open and CCA-1550 is push to open, turn to lock and conforms to NSN 2915-00-202-6420 when CCA-1250 does not.

Q: Do these Curtis pipe thread drain valves come with the required o-rings?

This does not accept an o-ring and only accepts a seal. The seal is built in to the valve.

Q: What is the operating pressure of these valves?

This valve is gravity fed so there is no operating pressure that it pushes fluid out. However, this has been has been tested at 40psi if fluid was to push through the valve.

Q: What material are these made of?

The drain valves are made of brass.

Q: What type of sealant should I use with a CCA-1550 fuel drain valve?

They recommend a Teflon tape or EZ-turn (fuel lube) type liquid sealant.

Q: What is the weight of the Curtis CCA 1550 valve, part # 05-01869?

Approx 0.03 lbs.

Q: What is the difference between Curtis drain valves CCA1550 and CCA1250? Specs, price and appearance seem the same?

Difference is only locking action. 1550 Push, turn to lock. 1250 Spiral, turn to lock (easier to activate).

Q: Does product 05-01869 apply to product 10580?

Yes that has the correct thread to use with the 10580.

Q: What is the correct pn for o-ring replacement? These valves leaking to often to replace valve each occurrence

Per the manufacturer, replacement seals for these drain valves are no longer available. We do not recommend that they be overhauled. Replace the valve if it begins to leak. These have seals not orings, and an off the shelf oring may leak.
