The Basic Kit: Includes HD Starter and Recoil Ring. The GPL Right Angle Starter is the ideal answer to many designs that have limited clearance on the starter end of the engine. Allows recoil starter to be re-installed and used as a back-up. Adds 4 1/2 to overall length of engine. Can be used without recoil. Adds only 2 ½ when not using recoil. Recoil cover plate included. Adds minimal mass to crank preserving the cranks rotating characteristics. Spacer rings shown on left determine the engine type. Rotax 377,447,503,532 use blue inner spacer (flat) only when not reinstalling recoil. Add the silver outer spacer (tall standoff type) after the ring gear when using recoil starter. For Rotax 582-618 use red inner spacer (flat) only when not reinstalling recoil. Add the red outer spacer (tall standoff type) when reinstalling the recoil starter. . No, this electric start system will not work with an engine as old as yours.
We would suggest the GPL starter kit if you'd like the electric starter, while keeping the pull starter. There are a few different options, so you'll have to figure out what fits your installation. If you have any questions please call us. https://www.cps-parts.com/catalog/eppages/gplstarterkits.php
