I havent used the vest and hope that I never will need to. I live in Southern California and frequently fly over the Pacific to Catalina or further up to the central coast. When over the water, we wear the vests as a matter of practice. The product seems well-made is comfortable, light and is ideal for a general aviation aircraft.

Q: How is this product (13-04373) different from 13-04372? They look about the same and the description looks the same. Thanks

The only difference is the color. 13-04373 is red and 13-04372 is navy blue.

Q: Is this Revere Comfort Max Inflatable PFD automatic or manual?

This flotation device uses CO2. It will inflate automatically once the rip cord is pulled.

Q: Is this Revere Comfort Max Inflatable PFD the *manual* version of this product (as opposed to the water-sensitive automatic version)?

This is a manual inflation system.

Q: Is this single cell or double cell? What is the required frequency of inspection?

The jackets operate as a single chamber as are all USCG approved jackets, it is only when the PFD is SOLAS approved it has 2 chambers. There is no set frequency inspection period for the jackets as they can be serviced and tested by the individual.

Q: Is this Revere Comfort Max PFD FAA Approved? Are there any validity to be recertified or service?

This product is not FAA approved but it is USCG approved. It does not require it to be recertified or serviced but it is recommended to take a look on the back of the instruction manual on how to maintain this unit.

Q: Will this Revere Comfortmax PFD life vest inflate automatically when in contact with water? In other words, will this life vest ever inflate when it is not inflated manually?

The 13-04373 is a manual inflated unit. It will not inflate until the cord is pulled.

Q: What is the color of the Rever ComfortMAX PDF once inflated, is it bright yellow?

Yes, they are yellow when inflated.

Q: Does this need to be rectified every year? Does it come certified and for how long?

This is not FAA approved. It is not required to be recertified or serviced but recommended to be maintained by using the reference in the back of the instruction manual.

Q: Is there a product life span for this vest? do they have a recommended inspection interval or storage recommendations?

But the best rule of thumb to follow on the manual vests is….
*take the vest out at the beginning of each season
*inspect all the straps and bindings to make sure they have not been damaged or are fraying
*if there are any compromises to the materials and/or the straps the vest should be replaced
*remove the Co2 – inspect the seal -it should be intact.
*reinstall in the mechanism..you should see the cylinder seal indicator go from red to green.
* if you do not see green then the cylinder should be replaced.
*if the vest and Co2 passes visual inspection, inflate the yellow bladder with the
oral valve.
*allow to sit overnight – the bladder should stay inflated and NOT become soft *if the bladder loses air- the vest should be replaced
*if the bladder does not lose air, deflate via the oral valve (depress the spring at top of tube) repack via the instructions
You are ready to go.

Q: Where is the oral inflation tube for this vest located?

This is located in the front on the bottom left next to the whistle. It is an orange tube.
