$379.00/Each
Part# 11-14292
MFR Model# ETX680C

Overview

Note: Not FAA Approved. Intended for use in experimental aircraft only.

This battery is fully protected by an integrated battery management system (BMS) that protects the cell’s from over discharge, over charge, short circuit, temperature, plus cell balancing to ensure charge levels are equal. Additionally, the ETX-Hundred Series batteries have redundant electronic circuits and battery fault indication. The fault indicator can be connected into your EFIS or wired to a 12volt LED light on your control panel to alert you to the state of charge and state of health of the battery. (Please see manual for details)

If you are looking for a more compact sized battery, the ETX680C has the same spec’s but in a more compact size. Visit here to see the details of the ETX680C: ETX680C | Lithium Battery for Experimental Aircraft | EarthX (earthxbatteries.com)

Why Choose EarthX

  • You will instantly remove 11+ pounds compared to the lead acid battery in your experimental aircraft! Now that is a huge weight saving.
  • Significant increase in cranking power. If you have been using the PC680, you will increase your CCA’s from 170 to 320 and the PCA’s from 520 to 680! Now that’s the power to crank your engine!
  • Now you can easily have a backup battery and not worry about the additional weight. In fact, if you switch from a lead acid battery and add a backup battery, so you have a primary and a backup, you still have decreased your overall weight by 50%! Note that only the ETX680C/680/900/1200 have the aircraft specific BMS.
  • Innovative and sophisticated BMS designed and engineered with redundancy for safety, reliability, and performance. These are EXCLUSIVE features!

EarthX ETX680C Lithium Aircraft Battery

September 25, 2024

I use the battery as a portable, no onboard charging. It seems to need charging after a single start cycle. . First couple of charge cycles the battery seemed to topout and/or settle at low voltage. Presently it settles to around 13.55v. I find it cranks far faster than an LA Gill.

Been in plane a few weeks. Power is awesome and it weighs a lot less than the dry cell. Money well spent.

Q&A

Q: Are any of these approved for certificated aircraft?

The Earth X Lithium Batteries are not TSO'd and are not designed for certified aircraft.

Q: Can the Earth X Lithium batteries be mounted in any direction and do they have any limitations as far as aerobatics?

Per the supplier: These batteries do not have any limitations. You are able to mount these in any direction you would like including upside down.

Q: Since Earth X batteries have the on-board computer, can they be charged with any run-of-the-mill battery charger?

Per vendor, these batteries can be charged with any charger other than a desulfating charger.

Q: Which Earth X battery is recommended for a Rotax 912 without the external alternator?

Per Earth X: We recommend either the ETX680 or the ETX900 for the Rotax 912 without external alternator. The ETX 900 is the upgraded version of the 680 but both would work.

Q: I need 28V, can I connect two of these Earth X batteries in series to obtain 28V?

Yes, you can connect up to two batteries in series, however they would only be 24 volts, not 28 volts, as each battery is 12 volts.

Q: What doe the C stand for in ETX680C. In other words, other than case size and weight, what is the difference between ETX680 and ETX680C?

We believe the "C" stands for Compact. The ETX680C is a smaller battery than the ETX680, but has the same voltage and cranking amps. The case dimensions are listed on the web page.

Q: Can two Earth X batteries be connected parallel to increasing capacity?

Per Earth X: Yes, you can connect two Earth X batteries in parallel.

Q: Can I add a EarthX Lithium battery in parallel to a lead acid battery?

No. The voltages are not the same and you will over charge the lead acid battery and drain the lithium.

Q: What EarthX battery is recommended to start a Lycoming IO-360?

ETX680 for normal climate or the ETX900 if they are in a colder climate or just want extra cold cranking amps.

Q: Does this item ETX680C ship internationally?

Yes, we can export this item.
