Owners of Lycoming and Continental powered airplanes now have an electronic, analog alternative to the old cable driven tachometer. The new UMA tach is certified to FAA TSO C49b standards for fixed wing aircraft. The system uses a tach sender mounted on the engine in place of the mechanical cable and is connected to the indicator with a single, 3-conductor cable.
The 3 1/8” indicator utilizes a high torque pivot and jewel movement. The hour meter can be factory set to start at any desired RPM point. This unit gives the pilot the analog display that is easiest to scan and provides electronic accuracy and ease of installation. Custom dial markings in color and internal Electro-Luminescent lighting are available at extra cost. Comes with T1A3-4 Sending Unit and 1D6 Harness |

After several years of trying to get a mechanical recording tachometer to work in my Stearman, I chose this UMA tach. Manufacturer will set desired RPM when recording starts, and they mark tachometer limits. They even placed a Stearman logo on the face of the tach. The accumulated time is small and difficult to read, but I typically look at it only during annual and for ail changes. Straightforward installation. Great technical support. Tachometer works very and is worth every penny.
UMA 3-1/8 Electric Tachometer 0-3500 RPM With MarkinGS TSO Without Hourmeter
Unbelieable ! This tach works perfectly and so easy to install on my PA 32. Welcome to the 21 century -)
Very nice unit to replace a mechanical installation. Less weight, no long tach cable, easy to install. Used on a small bi-plane that had a very long tach cable to reach the rear pit.
Purchased for a Continental 0-300. The original generator had been updated to a 60-Amp alternator. Unfortunately, the mechanical tach electronic pickup doesnt fit on the engine because of the increased radius of the alternator from the OEM generator, so we will have to return the tach. Had it fit, it would have been perfect for our Cessna 170b.
It is nice to ditch the failure prone mechanical tach cable and yet not give up the analog needle. The TSOd version must be set up exactly to POH or engine STC. The owner does have some discretion, they choose the RPM the hour meter starts counting. Think carefully about that fact. Ive seen this tach in rental airplanes where the hobbs is double tach time. My only complaint, the hour meter is to small and hard to read, otherwise it would be 5 stars.
Bought UMA 3-1/8 ELECTRIC TACH 0-3500 RPM W/ SENDER 6 TSO. It works realy fine. But there was a problem with wiring: there was no power at the sending unit. So I had open the Tachometer housing and solder a bridge between pin 2 and 3

This product is certified (TSO'd) but you will still need to send in a 337 field approval referencing the TSO. If you have the exact same model number in the panel and you are replacing it a simple lookbook entry will work. Always consult your installer as each FAA FSDO may rule differently.
6 in the name UMA TACH PICK UP FOR BENDIX MAG 6 LEAD means 6 ft lead. It refers to the length of the lead. Yes, the sender is included with 10-01221. While there are a few such as PN: 10-02140, please not that they are for experimental aircraft and are not TSO'd.
This would be UMA PN:T19-801-112 and Per UMA, this Tachometer would work with the Plasma III.
Yes, indicate current hours on the order to have hobbs meter set to engine time. This will only be a minor alteration if the tach you are installing the same model of the one you are replacing.
Yes, this product includes the sender that screws into the tach drive.
This unit has a FAA TSO approval. However, you will need to contact your local aviation authority office to see what their ruling on installing a FAA TSO'd unit into your aircraft.
