Overview

The SK2003-51ADJ Platemount will accept #82 Southco; 2000 and 4000 Series CLoc® or Camloc® Fasteners common to all Cessna cowlings. One SK2003-51ADJ replaces the SK2003-14ADJ; SK2003-24ADJ; SK2003-36ADJ and SK2003-42ADJ. The SK2003-51ADJ is 100% performance tested and inspected prior to shipment.

The Skybolt SK2003 Series cowling mounts replace the OEM Cessna®/Lord® J7444 Series mounts with full FAA-PMA and FAA TSO-C148 approvals. The generation IV mounts have evolved as the flight school proven best ever mount on the market for strength and lasting durability. Skybolt's exclusive 100% stress test inspection insures that each and every mount will go the distance without transferring unwanted stress to the airframe components or firewall.

Requires Skybolt SK26022 Tool for adjustment.

Reviews

This is the adjustable version of the cowl mount. This means it can be adjusted for a longer or shorter stud, not adjusted otherwise for alignment. This is for the traditional 1/4 turn studs that have the springs on them, not the OEM Cessna used till roughly 1986 on the 172s This unit is for Cessna aircraft that have been converted from the S1115 series Soutco fasteners to the Skybolt series. It is a little tricky unlatching the tiny little adjustment screw but once unlatched, it adjusts pretty easily.

The SK2003-51ADJ usually turns when I turn the CLoc stud. I have followed the manufacturer instructions a tee and viewed their video on how to lock these after adjusting them with variable success. I have had to resort to using Loctite once I get them adjusted. The older version of the mounting plate, with the red colored metal plate, that came with my C177RG conversion kit, are not adjustable. Those work just fine, but evidently are not available any longer. The adjustable version is quite expensive and very finicky. I regret changing over from the OEM Southco Fasteners to CLoc.

These worked, but I found them to be flimsy and poorly constructed. One of the locks broke before I had even installed them on the aircraft. I was able to repair it, but I would not buy these again.
