Note: Please confirm standard aircraft oil filter application guide to determine correct oil filter model for your engine / aircraft. The filter element is made from medical grade, type 304 stainless steel micronic filter cloth providing unmatched protection against oil contamination and resultant engine damage. A rare earth magnet is installed in the top of the element for magnetic pre-filtering of the oil. The unique twist lock design allows for easy disassembly, inspection and cleaning. The quad-ring gasket doubles the seal between the filter and the engine . The filter housing is carved out of a solid piece of 6061 T6 billet aluminum with cooling fins, which not only looks good but aids in dissipating heat. |

have yet to use it. but appears to be a quality made product.
CP48108C Challenger Oil Filter
I had this filter on my 152 then sold it and bought an experimental. Easier install due to not going through the 337/STC process. Love the filter. no more can cutting. The holes for the safety wire are a bit small, but easy to fix. Have to replace the element in accordance with the STC. Still pays for itself in 10 oil changes.
CP48110C Challenger Oil Filter
Great fit- I now don’t have to pull off my starter every time I need to change the oil. It will also pay for itself after about 350-400 hours!
CP48108C Challenger Oil Filter
This is a really quality built product. I have space issues with my Tempest/Champion oil filters on my O470-50 Continental engine and mount. The Challenger filter is smaller diameter and a little shorter. Fits nicely between engine mount tubing. I also like very much thr “lifetime” filter screen that is very easy to remove and clean. Overall Im very impressed with the quality of this product!
CP48109C Challenger Oil Filter
The quality is excellent. Weight is about the same, maybe slightly lighter than regular short filters. As usual, ACSp wants to know what I think before I have experience using it, but like it so far.
CP48108C Challenger Oil Filter
After reading all of the propaganda on this filter I decided to give it a try. It is installed on a O-200 powered Varieze. The workmanship on the filter assembly is impressive. I must admit that I am pleased with it so far. I have only an hour on the engine with the Challenger oil filter installed but so far it has lived up to the claims on the Challenger website. Ive seen about a 10 deg decrease in oil temp over the legacy oil filters. I also noticed about a 5 PSI increase in oil pressure at idle which I attribute to the manufactures claim of an increase in flow rate over the paper oil filter elements. The installation is pretty straightforward, and the filter footprint is considerably smaller. The only thing I havent tried yet is cleaning it at the 50 hr interval. That looks like it could be a bit messy and time consuming. Of course, cutting a filter open to inspect the paper element is a bit messy and time consuming. I plan to buy a second filter element so I can have a clean element on hand so that cleaning the element can be accomplished at my leisure vs. delaying the oil change while cleaning the element. So far, I think its been a good investment.

The Challenger CP48108C can physically be used in place of a Champion CH48108-1 filter, but the installation manual for Airwolf remote kits refer to the Champion CH48108 and CH48109 filters. You may want to consult with your A&P mechanic to insure the remote kit and Challenger filter are approved to be used with each other.

These are PMA'd or STC'd for most aircraft and engine combinations. You would just need to make sure your engine and aircraft are on the application guide. We always recommend consulting with your A&P installer to confirm legality of the install.
5 years since install or 1200 hours, whichever comes first.

First, what oil filter part number does he use now, the only difference in ours and our competitors is our prefix and -C, CP-xxxxx-C. You do not purchase an oil filter based relief valve or not. The part number determines the thread size, stud or not, relief valve or not. Also, on our website there is a suggestion under the link to testimonials that you use a 1 gallon ziplock bag.
