MFR Model# ADS-100

Overview

The Model ADS-100 is an all solid-state device that simulates the output of altitude encoders/digitizers in both parallel and serial (RS232) data formats. Designed to substitute for an altitude encoder when testing and troubleshooting an aircraft’s altitude reporting system, the ADS-100 provides two RS-232 compliant outputs in addition to the ICAO pressure altitude code. The Model ADS-100 provides a simple and robust means of simulating serial and parallel altitude data inputs for multiple aircraft systems.

The bright two-line vacuum fluorescent display gives the test technician a view of the current altitude code transmission on both the serial and parallel ports. LED indicators display the status of the encoder strobe, power and serial data protocol pins, as well as the binary ICAO altitude code. Audible alerts are generated at 1000’ or 100’ altitude code transition points. Front panel switches control the device power, altitude hold, ascent/descent rate, audible signals and serial data protocol.
