Worked OK in the beginning, the sound volume is very low so I had to increase my volume to almost max on my MP3 device. Slowly the chord degraded and now the input no longer works, and there is a ton of static through the headsets which stopped me from hearing ATC. This is only after 2 months of use.

No this will just add music to your headset via a 3.5mm jack. Note that volume controls will have to be adjusted on the device you plug in.
