Reviews

Seems to work well for my purposes. I use it to power my airplane during maintenance and avionics database updates. Price was reasonable compared with other units I looked at. Its capable of putting out 35 amps, more than many Ive seen. However, its not a battery charger. Pleased so far.

White Lightning M1435P 14V Mini GPU For Certified Aircraft With Piper Plug

This unit works very well to power my aircrafts 14 volt electrical system. It has very good amperage output and is reasonably priced. The only negative Ive seen is with the cable from the unit to the aircraft. The cable is nice and flexible, however, the seam between the positive and negative wire is already coming apart at both ends of the cable. I had to use nylon ties to keep the cable seam from splitting further. Also, the fitting on the cable end that plugs into the unit appears a little flimsy. It hasnt broken to date, but I also minimize the cable connects and disconnects to avoid any potential issues.

Q: The description states that the voltage is set at 14.25v is this regulated and what is that range? Does the manufacturer have any recommendations on if this unit can be used for gear swings?

14.25 volt +/- .25 | input: 90-240 vac, 50-60 hz | output: 5.3 amp @ 115 vac. Continous airframe power only not for engine start, it can also be used for troubleshooting and maintenance.

Q: Is this compatible with a 1967 Cessna 185E with 12v system?

Yes, this can be used for certified aircraft with 12v systems. Typical high wing Cessnas are outfitted with the Oval 3 Pin plug port, which means you would use Part# 11-18943. Confirm you have the female receptacle for this plug.

Q: Where are the White Lightning GPUs made?

These are made in the USA.

Q: Can I leave the White Lightning M1435 unit plugged in even when using the hydraulic pump to cycle my landing gear? Lancair type plane?

Per vendor: Yes, this would be okay, so long as there were not a number of other stacked functions going on (thereby requiring more amps). The M2850 will supply a little over 50 amps briefly before it shuts down so that might get them by, especially if it is a 30 amp breaker.
