Artex ELT 345 Slim Kit 8108

$1075.00/Each
Part# 11-18356
MFR Model# 8108

Overview

The ARTEX ELT 345 transmits on 406 MHz and 121.5 MHz frequencies and can provide position accuracy with an optional GPS input thanks to the built-in GPS navigational interface. GPS data is embedded from the first emergency transmission and provides Search and Rescue personnel with the aircraft location, within 100 meters, in less than a minute.

This unit can be activated manually with (remote switch or ELT switch) or automatically (the G-switch detects a 2.3G or greater impact). Once activated, the ELT 345 transmits a 406 MHz signal with the beacon's unique registration information and embedded GPS coordinates to the closest search and rescue agency via the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system. The beacon also transmits a 121.5 MHz homing signal to assist search and rescue to pinpoint the aircraft's GPS location.

The ELT 345 provides a quick-and-easy retrofit opportunity with flexible installation options (Slimline two-wire remote switch that fits ACK and Ameriking - 2.08 x 0.75 Inches). The ELT utilizes the same RF output using only one coax cable to transmit both 406 MHz and 121.5 MHz signals through the compact 15-inch whip antenna. The ELT's built-in navigational interface does not require aircraft power to operate—which results in lower installation costs—and the stainless steel mounting bracket supplied with the unit has a multiple hole mounting pattern to accommodate legacy footprints.

FAA TSO C126b approved.

How it Works

  • The ARTEX ELT 345 provides a quick-and-easy retrofit opportunity with flexible installation options such as a two-wire remote switch that does not require any aircraft power. Because it is a single output ELT, the ELT 345 utilizes the same RF output and only one coax cable to transmit both 406 MHz and 121.5 MHz signals. The built-in navigational interface does not require aircraft power to operate which greatly reduces the cost of installation. The stainless steel mounting bracket has a multiple-hole pattern configuration which makes the replacement of legacy ARTEX ELTs or old ACK, Kannad and AmeriKing ELTs quick and easy.

  • Pair the ELT 345 with ARTEX’s exclusive online satellite confirmation testing system, 406Test.com, and get real-time beacon testing results, from the same satellites used by Search and Rescue, to ensure your ELT system is functioning properly. There is a reason that ARTEX ELTs are the choice of more aircraft manufacturers than any other; they trust ARTEX to build the highest quality products knowing they are used to save lives.

Reviews

When my Ameri-King ELT failed and the manufacturer didn’t have the technicians available to diagnose and repair the 10 year old device, I needed a replacement ASAP. ARTEX 345 had a complete slim kit that replaced the Amer-King completely… no mods needed to install remote unit into the instrument panel.

Avoid this kit UNLESS you need to have a 2.08 x .75 remote switch. Instead purchase p/n 11-18358 for $158 LESS! Unfortunately there is NO picture showing the back side of the remote switch. I was hopeful that the slim kit meant that the faceplate would be 2.08x.75 but the piece would fit into the C172S factory .75 x .75 panel hole for the remote switch. This is not the case! You will need to cut the panel to accommodate the full size 2.08 x .75 switch. A picture really could have saved $158 - Spruce sales rep could not answer this specific question!

Q: Will the existing ACK450 connecting cable work with your ELT345?

We have added the Installation Manual to the web page. This unit is FAA Approved and to be legally installed all components in the kit must be used.

Q: Does this ELT require an external antenna?

Yes, this ELT is sold as a kit. The ELT 345 will require all new parts to be installed.

Q: Can the Artex ELT 345 slim be mounted vertically vs horizontal for direction of flight? I am looking to replace a shark 7.

This must be installed as the installation manual requires in order to be installed properly.

Q: Does the Artex 345 ELT Slim Kit have its own internal gps source and not require an external gps source?

This will require an external GPS source, it does not have an internal antenna.

Q: Is the Artex ELT 345 FAA Approved?

Yes, this is FAA TSO approved.

Q: Is ELT345 compatible with Garmin 100 and/or Garmin 496?

As long as the baud rate matches it will work. This means the baud rate on the ELT will need to be programmed.

Q: The Artex installation manual says that the ELT will need to be programmed. What format do they come in and how can I get what I want?

If your aircraft is based in the USA, this will not require programming. Artex offers the same model for International which will require programming.
