When I unboxed, these vintage replica Grips, I was amazed at the quality and likeness to the more than 50 year old ones I was replacing. The composition of the of the rubber, and size was perfect, the older ones had evidently hardened, and cracked, I wanted to use them so badly that I had glued them back together. So now this will not only enhance the esthetic of the cockpit, but will also provide long lasting use and quality in my restoration, a 1938 Piper j3 Cub. I can not say if this is an OEM part, but I do believe they were on my aircraft for perhaps more than 60 years, since it was shelved for over 50 years. NOTE: the mold had to be the same, they are identical to my examples in my project, but the quality of the Rubber Id say, reminded me of some high end SCUBA FINS, I Once had, they are not some hard plastic bicycle grips , they are 100% spot on, Genuine. Thanks, Mark
For those who, like me, are fanatic about all of the little details that combine to give our restorations ( ours is a 1942 Fairchild PT-19) the authentic look that is so important, these control stick grips are just the thing. Made from a heavy rubber and a very high quality, they are an exact replica of the originals. A bit expensive, but worth the price for authentic detail. P.S. Be sure to measure the O.D. of your control stick before ordering either 1 or 1 1/8
Not being able to order only one is a major ripoff since you sell them at over $30 piece (2X pack= $61), they are worth perhaps $5 ea. if on a bicycle.
