Very easy installation.
This is a very nice antenna that comes with everything you need to install it. It is durable for experimental and other types, and the price is friendly. I have used two of them with two experimental projects, pairing both with two Garmin 200 com radios with superb result. Installation is quick but tricky because you have to work on the inside and outside of the aircraft. Make sure you have an assistant to help. This makes installation a breeze (15 to 30 minutes). Also make sure you fortify the section you install the antenna. Finally, get the one with 96 rg cable because it helps with flexibility regarding length.
I am an A&P and this is the antenna of my choice. It would work fine on a RV or an ultralight
Very nice antenna, small easy to mount and comes with all hardware for installation. SWR when checked after installation was great. Installed it on a J-3 belly just aft of landing gear bungees.
The antenna seems to work better than the rubber antenna that came with my handheld com radio. The mounting stud threads could be about 1/4 longer as I had to leave off a washer and the data plate in order to have enough threads to install the antenna hardware. Even when holding the swagged hex nut at the antenna base with a wrench the antenna would still spin when torquing the mounting nut so had to hold the antenna at the bend with blocks of wood to keep it from spinning in order to torque the mounting nuts.
as described
The antenna arrived here in the UK within a reasonable time and well packed for transit. it was exactly what I ordered. I would have given the order 5 stars, but I discovered there was a dry soldered joint where the antenna is wired to the coaxial cable fitment. Fortunately I discovered it whilst unpacking the system and easily fixed it with my soldering iron. However, it was fortunate I discovered it when I did, otherwise it could have easily come apart in flight causing complete radio failure. It indicated a lack of care by the manufacturer.
Threaded end is at least 1/8 too short. With a .025 aluminum skin there is just enough thread to to get the last nut on. If you need to add a doubler to add strengthen you will have to to leave off the data tag.
