Overview

The ITC-401TC is designed with the Sport Pilot in mind and is a slight departure from our standard intercom design. The Noise Reduction control is a one time "Set and Forget" adjustment, but in aircraft such as Ultralight's, Trike's and Power Parachutes, because of changing flight conditions the Noise Reduction Control is located on the front panel rather then an internal adjustment. Trike pilots from across the country who are using the ITC-401TC along with GA headsets, are reporting far better communications between the pilot and passenger when compared to open microphone, push-to-talk, and voice operated intercoms. For in flight communications, the ITC-401TC is the ideal choice.

Reviews

This is an amazing intercom. Its ability to block out noise in open cockpits is incredible. It works best when paired with the Oregon Aero Mic Muff. The only downside is the lack of a 12V port. This is easily overcome however by using a 9V-12V battery eliminator.

4 stars instead of 5 only because theres no option for 12VDC power. I ended up buying a 12VDC to 9VDC battery eliminator adapter and plugged it into the planes electrical system so I didnt have to mess with batteries anymore. Other then that though, it works great! It truly does work well in open cockpit ultralights!

This device performs very well with planes powered by 2 strokes engines, where there's a lot of noise thanks to the noise reduction. However, you can't plug it in the 12V outlet since it designe to operate with a 9 V battery. The battery will last about 2-3 hours of flight. If the 9V battery is not a matter, it's a good device for noise reduction.

I have a 1946 Piper Cub. I had this intercom wired together with a Icom A14 handheld, and two David Clark H10-13.4 headsets. The intercom must be turned ON to listen or use the radio, whether you have a passenger or not. If the battery dies, you cannot use the radio. There is no fail-safe wiring that permits use of the radio if/when the battery dies. And the battery only lasts a few hours requiring frequent battery replacement. I returned this intercom.
