Pushbutton Switch With Boot

November 5, 2021

I concur with the others that switch takes WAY too hard to push. I ended up buying a BEP switch from West Marine, rated for 35amps, DC. In any case, if youre working with DC current, be sure to get a switch rated for DC. On disconnect, a switch can arc. With AC, the arc will be extinguished at the next half-cycle. But with DC, it can continue - unless the switch is designed to handle the problem. In that case, it will be specifically rated for DC use. Aircraft Spruce: replace this with a Cole Hersee switch or similar even though they cost more.

This is not a perfect starter switch. This thing is massive, and takes 10 lbs of push to engage. Heres the measurements that are lacking in the description. 1/1/8th x 1/1/2 x1/14 to the start of the shaft threads. 2/5 from end screws to button tip. 3/4 of shaft thread, and a 5/8 shaft diameter. Thats a big hole. This is the perfect switch for launching a nuclear warhead from a submarine.

This push button starter switch is massive. Way too big to use as a replacement for your plane. Spruce needs a smaller switch.
