I love aviation! I was refueling my Mooney next to this guy with a Piper. Of course with me being a female pilot he felt he had to educate me on taking care of my baby. He stated that to prolong the life of the landing gear struts I should clean them, which made sense to me. I was expecting for him to say listen Love and step aside but instead he gave me this product, which the label is different, and said see for yourself. I wiped the struts and was surprised on the amount of dirty! Now I use one wipe for five flights. I dont know if it really makes a difference but I feel a little better each time I touch down. I definitely recommend this product.
I fly my Piper Archer in the S.W. US and the dust in this region is very heavy and cakes on to every thing, especially the chrome struts. A friend of mine gave me one of these packages to give a try. He bought it off Aircraft Spruce. Love the product! Easy to use and does not make a mess. Best part is the wipe goes back into the package, thrown under the seat and can be used several times.
This is pretty much what I was looking for something to keep the struts of my Cherokee clean and oiled. They worked well to remove some of the residue that usually collects on part of the exposed strut, and you can put it back in the resealable pouch if its not too dirty. Youre gonna need gloves, however, since they are, well, oily.
Tried a sample wipe before I purchased these & the sample was well saturated with fluid. I’ve opened two of these new ones & they dont have near the fluid saturation. Comparatively they almost feel dry.
