360 Degree Fabric Iron
I bought two of these irons, only to find that they have a safety feature: it wont heat up if not vertical and it wont heat up if it isnt moved every 15 seconds or so. Theres a little circuit board in the handle. I removed mine completely, but one can bypass easily enough. Remove the single screw at the back of the unit, exposing the entry of the line cord. Youll see a grey, white and green wire coming from up in the handle (thats where the safety lives). 1. Disconnect the black wire attached to the green wire. Thats the hot. 2. Disconnect the white wire. Thats the switched hot, coming from the safety. Connect the black wire from step 1 to the screw. Now the hot isnt switched. 3. Disconnect the grey wire. Now that the green, white and grey wires go nowhere (you could snip them off once youre satisfied the iron is working), and the black hot wire has been moved to the white wire screw, youre done. No more safety. Have fun pulling fabric.
I was dissapointed with the range of temperature it has between when it shuts off to when it turns on again. About 40* F.
