Reviews

The iron is impossible to calibrate without modifying the auto shut off. I havent had time to disassemble the Iron yet so I am not sure how the Iron will hold a set temperature. It looks like a solidly constructed iron. Wish I had read about the auto shut off feature before buying.

I took my new one apart and bypassed the auto shutoff by soldering a small wire across the relay. This doesn't effect the temperature control adjustment at all. Just be careful you don't leave it ON...

The auto shutoff feature on this iron activates after laying flat for 30 seconds. It is not possible to calibrate it unless the auto shutoff feature is disabled.

Temps are inconsistent and vary. Couldn’t get mine over 300 on max setting.

The iron I purchased at AirVenture was unusable because it would only heat up to 135 degrees at its highest setting. The replacement iron was also defective because it would only heat up to 150 degrees at its highest setting.

Q: what am I supposed to do with an iron that only heats to 180 degrees?

Due to new safety laws Black & Decker and other manufacturers had to lower the temp range on household irons. We have been looking for a replacement since then, but could not find one until now. These units will be no longer available when gone. The new iron can get to 360*, and our part number is 09-03785.
