The EA-15000 is an approved ignition switch panel to control two magnetos and a starter in a conventional ignition configuration (magneto to magneto). The panel comes in two versions, a horizontal one and a vertical one. This set of ignition switches is approved to replace the outdated and venerable rotary key-switch.
By making this change, a couple of things get accomplished: first, the AD that accompanies most rotary key-switches is eliminated; second, the problem of faulty contacts inside of the key-switch which can cause a hot mag situation, is eliminated; and third, because the operation of the magnetos is returned back to the traditional way aircraft engines are supposed to be operated, pilot operation and aircraft safety are improved. Starting is now as simple as pushing a button. No more fumbling for the keys. The switch panel does require that if the remaining magneto is NOT a starting magneto, the switch for the mag be left in the OFF position for starting. All of this is explained in the AFMS that accompanies the Switch Panel. |

This ignition eliminated the mag switch AD. on my AA5B. Only concern I have is that you be careful of your placement, the mag switches are very sensitive to the touch. I relocated mine higher, so there was no chance of flipping them with my knee.
First, customer service through ElectroAir was phenomenal. After spilling the contents of the hardware bag and only recovering about half the items, one email to ElectroAir got me an overnight Fedex package with new hardware...all free of charge!!!! Awesome! Besides that, the switch itself looks really nice in my RV-6 and it works perfectly. No more key to worry about and I like the looks & functionalityt.
The switches for the mags only include 2 connections per switch (p-lead and ground) I was expecting 4 connections per switch as the drawings depict as I have additional wires for my engine monitor and rpm gauge that would have been nice to have separated out. Now Ill have to have more wires Yed together than I had planned. In addition, the switches feel a bit on the soft side (eg too easy to flip from on to off and off to on)
Careful with placement the switches are easy to turn off .Takes a very light touch

Please refer to the EA-15000 Installation Manual for complete details. Horizontal dimensions: 3.25W x 2.00H X 1.391D. Vertical dimensions 2.00W x 3.25H x 1.391D
You are able to look up the STC on the Electroair website which is www.electroair.net under the heading Tech Support and then under the heading STC.
The EA-15000 would be the more appropriate switch with two electronic ignition systems as it is labeled "Left" and "Right". The EA-13000 switch is labeled "EIS" and "MAG".
