My 172 has been flying for a year with its new muffler and its holding up great. My personal policy is to take the exhaust apart on any airplane I buy and make sure everything is in good condition. So far, Ive replaced more than half of the parts Ive examined closely. Its appalling some of the rotten mufflers people are flying around with.
