Excellent for cowling insides

Great stuff. Easy to work with and economical. Only recently installed in lower cowl, so cant rate longevity of product in use. Will adjust rating if insulation doesnt hold up over long time usage.

Adheres well in my fiberglass cowling. Was easy to apply. Used it to protect the fiberglass from the direct heat of the cylinders. Now lets see, how well it lasts in the long run.

I ride a KTM 1290 SA with a serious problem with heat radiating off of the engine head that is just below the seat. Talking to a custom motorcycle seat builder, he suggested this product and it works great! Im much more comfortable now, which means Im less distracted and likely a safer rider. Great flexible product thats easy to cut, shape and adhere to items that arent flat. Quick delivery, but really overpacked.

Good to work with

I used this heat material to protect the inside of a RV-9 cowl. It was easy to apply and I was able to work it around some slight bends. With a few relief cuts it looks great. The material is strong with insulation under the foil. The adhesive seems to be strong.

Covered Firewall as extra heat barrier and performs well!

I have used this product on inlet system of turbo charged car and on underside of road race motorcycle fuel tank. Easy to work with & reflects radiant.

Material was great. Shipping was less than Satisfactory.

Cost effective alternative to the more expensive options. Used it to replace old insulating material on inside of my cowling near exhaust manifold. Despite diligent cleaning efforts, if the surface you are putting this stuff on has ever seen oil, use good contact cement. The adhesive backing will not work.

The product is easy to work with, in terms of cutting and shaping it, but the adhesive on the 4 pieces I purchased was not good - adhesive was barely tacky at best.

Used inside of lower cowling lasted for 175 hours of flying , the adhesive letting go along the edges. Replacing new with the same product, but will use an additive adhesive.

I use this barrier to protect my fiberglass cowling from exhaust pipe heat. The adhesive is adequate to hold it in place when all residual oil is removed. This is done with a sequence of solvents. Once clean, l apply the heat shield material. Since the edges of the shielding is unprotected, from soaking up oil, I apply a high temp RTV to seal all the edges.

Adhesive Backed? only in words. The adhesive is weak. Brand new RV-8 cowlings were cleaned up really well and this Thermo-Tec did not hold at all. Like the last review guy, I am going to have to find an adhesive for it... not cool.

The peel-n-stick adhesive provided is not sticky enough to hold the product on my fiberglass engine cowling. The bond strength is very poor even on flat area. There are no installation instruction with the product. Now I need to find another appropriate adhesive.
