My 24V SkyTec starter failed after 400 hours. After consulting with some trusted resources, I decided to go back with this OEM starter and accept the slight weight gain. WOW. Unit arrived on time, was an easy install, and the prop turned about 50% faster on start than the SkyTec unit. Would highly recommend!
Working good
Good service starts eng . well
So far so good, much better (faster cranking speed) than the lightweight Iskra it replaced. Only nit was there was no o-ring included, luckily the old one was serviceable.
second one we have used works well
This cranking motor is identical to the original it is replacing, except the back motor plate is stamped sheet steel and the original was cast aluminum. The on-line image is totally incorrect as of 2020 07 10
The overhaul arrived a day early and performs fine. I was very disappointed with the life of the original Hartzell starter that I bought new from Aircraft Spruce. It did not last nearly as long as the old Delco. I would be interested to know why it failed so early.
Installed in my SR22 and no joy, starter dead on arrival! Removed and tested on the bench, looks like internal resistance or short. Bad QA by Hartzell! Now filling warranty claim. Frustrating!

The oring comes with the new starters but it is not included with the overhauled units.
