Great tool. I have used crows feet in the past. But this tool left me knowing for sure they were properly torqued.

I bought and used this wrench when I installed my Hartzell prop onto my Lycoming O-360. It allows the special bolts to be easily tightened by hand then it receives a torque wrench to establish the final torque on the bolts

If youre installing a Hartell compact hub and dont have this tool, good luck. The ratcheting open end wrench feature is an incredible time and knuckle saver as well.

OUSTANDING! I highly recommend this wrench to anyone who needs to remove or install a Hartzell constant speed prop. I struggled with standard wrenches and crow foot wrenches only to have them flex and slip off of the lug nut. I tried using the Hartzell wrench and it didnt perform nearly as well as this wrench. I bought this tool with high hopes. It did not disappoint me. It makes removing and tourqing prop bolts very easy. I was absolutely amazed at how easy it is to use. The material is super hard very strong steel. It does not flex at all. I would not want to change out a Hartzell prop without it.

Wrench provides the exact angle and leverage to torque the Hartzel R hub 3/4” pinned nuts /studs. The tool could have been improved by tighter machining tolerances as I felt the free play of the tool on the nut could cause a slip under pressure.. I felt slightly uncomfortable pulling 80 foot pounds of torque pressure but It did not strip or slip off the nuts.

Really Nice tool! The ratcheting feature saves time and sore fingers. The open end offset is a must in tight areas. Keep it at 90 degrees to the torque wrench for accurate results.

As advertised, an excellent tool. The ratcheting end adds speed to the process and makes a one-person installation feasible. The only thing I like to see is a slightly rounded edge for comfort.

When I pulled this wrench out of the box I thought, hmm, a bit pricey for what it is. But, wow, after using it I highly recommend it!!!
This tool is high quality and very nicely machined. It made installation of my Hartzell constant speed propeller an absolute breeze.
I wont be loaning this tool out to friends without a deposit.

If you are thinking about removing or installing a Hartzell CS prop, this is the tool. It allows adequate offset for a torque wrench, and a partially open end for iterating quickly as you install or remove the bolts. It is of obvious quality and quite robust.

Good wrench that looks water or laser CNC cut and had small sharp burrs on edges. Had to hand stone the sharp burrs to avoid scratching. It would be a Great buy if it have had a short time in a vibratory debut process.

This is a well made product and is great for removal and installation of my McCauley propeller. I wish the price was a little more reasonable. That is the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars.

Works good on some models, other aircraft it sucks where you can only get 1/8 of a turn if youre lucky. Not long enough to get past the prop backplate so can be a challenge with some props trying to get them torqued.

This wrench will allow you to install and properly torque the propeller bolts (in my case stud with a bolt and roll pin) on many McCauley installations, but it leaves much to be desired in the removal of the same nut. One side of the portion that grabs the nut is shorter and the wrench tends to slip off regardless of which way the wrench is used. I think this needs a little more engineering.

Tried to use on a Maule M6 and Comanche 250, wrench didn’t fit either aircraft under the spinner back plate. Almost an awesome tool.

I want to be fair in this review, yet the wrench is not perfect. My review will only address its use in removing/installing the prop on a Mooney 201 w/ the stock 2-blade McCauley. For the nuts not crowded by the prop blades the wrench worked okay for breaking them loose. But on the others the tight spinner-hub required the wrench to be placed on the nut at a significant angle such that it wouldnt engage the nut fully. On one particular nut the wrench slipped off under pressure and gouged its inner surface where the wrench grips the nut. I was surprised that the steel (wrench) was as soft as it was. Once that occurred it was no use trying to break that nut free. Instead I got out my old trusty long-pattern 3/4 combination wrench which easily loosened the nut, even at an angle. I should have just used the combination wrench to break all the nuts free to save wear on the prop-wrench.
The pseudo-ratcheting end of the prop-wrench was somewhat functional and does make loosening and tightening the nuts/studs easier and thats likely its most useful feature.
Like another reviewer, for my application the wrench’s overall length is too long. The wrench contacts the spinner hub such that it remains at an angle and can’t fully engage some of the nuts. Due to this angled nut engagement there was simply no way to get a ratchet extension into place without using a universal-joint.
This would be a perfect tool if it were about ¾” shorter in length. It would be even better if it were 2 separate wrenches (¾” shorter) with one being the pseudo-ratchet and the other a simple open-end with the square ratchet holes. If I did this often I’d buy two wrenches and cut the opposing ends off each one to create such a “set”.

Great idea and excellent quality but it simply doesnt do the job in the tight confines of a 3 blade Hartzell Top Prop. Just had to go back to the way and tools Ive used for last 40 years.
The inclusion of the Flank Drive feature that Snap On has marketed is however an excellent idea. An extra 1 or so and a bit thinner might help it clear mounting flange and allow clearance for a 1/2 drive.

Looks great, and well made, handy features, but it was to long to use on a McCauley 3 blade prop. It would be a good thing if dimensions were included in the description.

Although we were able to make it work and pretty much had no other choice, I though for $80 it would have been a much better quality tool. It is a roughly layer cut piece of steel. Because the opening for the nut is not cut like a normal wrench, but is instead just a rounded on the inside, the wrench has a tendancy to slip off of the nut. Had it been cut like a normal opened end wrench it would have gripped the nut properly. For the amount this cost it seems they would have cut the opened end to fit the nut properly.
For a one time use its Ok but if you need to make a living with it I would splurge and buy the correct one from Hartzell.
