THATCHER CX5

Two LSA experimental aircraft, the CX4 Single-place and CX5 Two-place, have been designed and built by Mr. David Thatcher, Pensacola, FL. More than 550 copies of his first aircraft design (the CX4) have been purchased by builders all over the world since their release in 2004 As of December, 2014 47 aircraft have been completed and are flying. The CX5 plans were made available in March 2014. Global interest remains strong, and many CX5 plan sets have been purchased to date.

Both aircraft are constructed of 6061T6 aluminum, and utilize fiberglass for the cowl, wing & elevator tips and wheel pants. Both utilize VW variant engines adapted for aircraft use. Construction times vary with individual builders, but kits are becoming available for both planes that significantly shorten the build time required.
