Overview

The FF-4 for Experimental / LSA aircraft is a 2 1/4” sunlight readable color display instrument intended for efficient monitoring of fuel related information for single or dual fuel tanks. The FF-4 has many display configurations based on single/dual flow senders, single/dual level senders and a fuel pressure sender.

Full functionality is available with a fuel flow and level sender or only with a fuel flow sender using calculated fuel levels based on fuel usage. Differential fuel flow calculations are also supported for fuel return systems. Fuel injector systems are also supported. Standard automotive fuel level senders can be used, even with odd shaped tanks due to a comprehensive, multi-point calibration system. Most fuel flow senders can be used as the K-factor of the sender can be entered into the system for simple calibration.

In addition, the FF-4 can use the actual ground speed from a RS232 NMEA enabled GPS receiver to determine fuel range.

The FF-4 can also be interfaced via the CAN bus to an external RDAC unit (Remote Data Acquisition Unit). This allows for easier installation as the RDAC unit is normally mounted in the engine compartment.

Reviews

Used for about 40 hours now since cockpit upgrade. No issues whatsoever and after being wired up as per instructions, everything has worked first try and without glitches or fail. For anyone who has wired up a cockpit before they will know how rare that is!

Q: Does the MGL Vega FF-4 gauge come with the transducers?

No, these do not come with transducers, please read the operation manual for recommendations on transducers.

Q: Will the MGL Vega FF-4 fit C182 with carburetor engine ?

No, the MGL Vega series is intended for use in experimental aircraft only.

Q: Does the MGL Vega FF-4 gauge indicate in gallons?

Units for measurements are user selectable.

Q: Does this MGL FF-4 work with resistive or capacitive probes?

The gauge can work with either, however capacitive probes need to have their signals processed by a computer box that outputs a 0-5V signal depending on fuel level. The gauge will not work with straight up capacitance probes on their own.
