Overview

This space saving antenna is perfect for gliders and light sport or experimental aircraft where mounting options are limited and space is tight. The TA50 is a highly compact uncertified GPS antenna, typically attached on the cockpit glareshield. The antenna will require a 180 degree view of the sky for optimum GPS reception. It is less suitable in metal high wing aircraft where physical masking of a GPS signal will potentially affect performance. The antenna is weatherproof and can be mounted externally. It has been developed to provide trouble free operation with the TN72 GPS Position Source.

The TA50 comes complete with a secure and reliable QMA connector – this plugs straight into a TN72 GPS unit. Using a TA50 antenna and a TN72 together is a cost effective way to turn your Trig Mode S transponder into an ADS-B Out device. Use the TA50 as part of your ADS-B solution to get all the benefits of greater visibility and safety.

Trig TA50 Antenna (1M Cable)

December 18, 2021

Great little antenna so far. Note: The Trig TN-72 antenna receptacle has threads and the Trig TA-50 cable fitting does not. Push it onto the receptacle firmly until it clicks into place.

Q: Will the uncertified TA-50 antenna meet 2020 ADS B requirements in an experimental aircraft or is the TA-70 required? I already have the Trig ADS B Bundle but I have no place to mount the GIANT TA -70 on my RV-4.

The TA50 comes complete with a secure and reliable QMA connector this plugs straight into a TN72 GPS unit. Q: Is the TA-50 a WAAS enabled antenna?

It is a WAAS GPS antenna meant for the TN72 to provide ADS-B to the TT22.

Q: If I order the Trig ADSB Bundle, can substitute the TA50 ANTENNA for the too big TA 70 antenna that won’t fit anywhere on my Sonerai?

The ADS-B bundle is shipped as a complete package from Trig so unfortuantely no part can be substituted. To have the equivalent, simply order:
Trig TT22: Part number 11-08322
Trig TN72: Part number 11-14845
Trig TA50: Part number 11-16865
