Q: Can the certified Stratus EGS connect to an iPad for display of ADS-B IN data? What is the difference between the ESG and the ESGi (other than the i is experimental)?
THE ESGi is a package of the ESG and the Stratus 2i for ADS-B IN. The Stratus 2i is required for ADS-B In to work.
Q: The overview states a gps antenna is included but the accessories list antennas 11-15996 and 11-14672 as options. Are they needed?
The Stratus ESG comes with an internal GPS antenna, part number 11-15996 is a optional external GPS antenna.
Part number 11-14672 is for the Stratus 2i portable and is also a optional external antenna.
Q: If I had a Stratus 3 and Stratus ESG, would that give me Mode C traffic in Canada and benefit from full ADS-B compliance when flying in the US?
The stratus esg is mode s transponder. It does not operate in the same manner as a mode c transponder. You will need to contact your local aviation authority to see if you can operate with a mode s transponder in canada.
Q: Does the Appareo Stratus ESG transponder require an external WAAS GPS antenna?
Yes, it requires an external WAAS GPS that is included with the package.

Yes. The Cessna 170B is on the AML list.
Q: Will you ship the Stratus ESG to my home address? I ordered from another website that said they would only ship to an approved Appero Dealer. I am using an avionics shop that is not a dealer.
We can only ship this product to an installer that is on the Appareo install shop list. We cannot ship this direct to customer or direct to another install shop.
Q: what is the warranty period on the Stratus ESG, and where to send product for repair?
For Stratus ESG installed and registered by an authorized Appareo installer. The warranty is 5 years or 2,000 flight hours whichever comes first. This can be sent to the Appareo for repair.
Q: I currently have a Stratus ESG. Will the ESG Interface with the Dynon Skyview?
Per the Stratus install Manual Rev 2.2 the Dynon Skyview is not compatible.
Q: If the Stratus ESG comes with an internal gps antenna, why do we need an external WAAS gps antenna?
The internal portion is simply a receiver. The external antenna provides the information.
Q: Can the Stratus ESG provide the required WAAS GPS data to a Garmin G5?
Per the G5 manual it is not an acceptable WAAS GPS source.

You will need to purchase 11-17601 so that the A&P can install it.
Q: Can the Stratus ESG provide GPS data to an ELT?
Aircraft has no other GPS source. A new 406 ELT is being installed at the same time as the Stratus ESG. It would be convenient if GPS data could be taken from the EST to the ELT.
Per Appareo, No, the WAAS GPS position is only available to the transponder for ADS-B out purposes, and, if connected, a Stratus portable ADS-B in receiver.

No. Per our current interpretation, the Stratus ESG is a Mode S transponder but does not meet the diversity requirement for Canada. We recommend consulting with your local A&P or installation center to make a determination regarding a compliant install.
