Circuit Breaker 7277-2-1/2

$138.95/Each
Part# 7277-2-1/2
MFR Model# 7277-2-1/2

Overview

The 7277 series circuit breaker is physically and electrically identical to the 7274-2 style circuit breaker, with the exception that the 7277 series has wider calibration limits.

Originally developed as an alternative to slow blow fuses, the trip free 7277 is used extensively as primary electrical circuit protection on general aviation aircraft. The wider calibration limits of the 7277 has also resulted in applications including protection for data processing and telecommunications equipment, computers, flight simulators, construction, material handling and other industrial, electronic equipment.

For use on trainer / simulator applications where all breakers are operated on low ampere control current, different ampere rating inserts (amp ratings on top of push button) can be ordered.

Reviews

These are the long shaft breakers typically found on Citations and other type Jets. They provide enough length to clear the EL type overlay panels.

Klixon Circuit Breakers are the standard for my general aviation airplane. The smaller size of the 7277 series is great!

Aircraft Spruce assumes no responsibility or liability for any issue or problem which may arise from any repair, modification or other work done from this knowledge base. Q: Are the Klixon 7277 series circuit brakers FAA PMA'd and TSO'd?

No, they are not FAA PMA'd or TSO'd.

Q: The 7277 series part numbers have the format 7277-X-Y The 'Y' is obviously the current capacity in Amps. What is is the 'X'?

The first number following 7277 is a type designator. -1 indicates auxilary (not for primary use) and the -5 has a longer push button than the standard -2.

Q: What is the hole size required for the Klixon 7277 circuit breakers?

Per the manufacturer the mounting hole should be 0.445 in diameter and the smaller hole should be 0.125

Q: What is the difference between the 7277-1-* and the 7277-2-* breaker?

The 7277-1 has an Aux. circuit option and the 7277-2 does not.

Q: Does Klixon offer a 1/2 amp breaker in the 7277 version? Any type designator.

Yes, Klixon offers a 1/2 amp breaker which would be a special order, please contact our avionics department to place the order.

Q: Screw type or spade type terminals?

These are screw type terminals.

Q: What size screw is used for the terminals on the 7277 Klixon breakers?

The terminals have 6-32 X 3/16" long screws.

Q: What are the mounting dimensions of the Klixon 7277-5 series circuit breakers?

We have added the drawing to the Dimensions tab of the web page for review.

Q: Are these circuit breakers (7277) approved for certified aircraft?

These circuit breakers do not have FAA Approval on their own. They were commonly installed as OEM breakers on many production aircraft, and thus might be approved under the airframe approval as replacement parts. Please confirm in your aircraft parts manual and with your A&P to ensure these can be legally installed in your aircraft.

Q: Can these be used as a switch?

We do not have any data to support using this circuit breakers as a switch.
