Audible alarm is not loud, especially for headset use, so mounting should be in a prominent location. Alarm level is well below EPA thresholds, making it easy to detect developing leaks early, but increases likelihood of alarms on the ground under certain wind conditions. Its especially noticeable on Pipers with wing root air intakes.

While newly installed and only three flights under its belt the unit is performing to expectations. Easy to install and operate. Added the activation as first step in the in-plane preflight process to provide adequate time to do its thing. Would recommend this over the less expensive placard for piece of mind though I admit to using both right now. Well see if I replace the old pill next month or if I am comfortable with just this unit.

It’s a compact little detector and fits nicely anywhere on the panel. If it works as advertised it will be well worth the price.

We just received this and tried to install it in the aircraft today. Found out the batteries that it came with were dead. A little disappointing but with fresh batteries it seems to work correctly.

Ive installed three, and like them very much, as noted in prior review. However, one had dead batteries within a few weeks, and the last one had dead batteries (under a volt each for 3V battery) right out of the box. Thats a really poor track record! Since the units do not turn themselves off after a set time period (probably a good idea for a safety device), I suspect the problem is packing them without turning them off. Its hard to blame the batteries, since they are brand name cells (Panasonic) and not made in China.
