Easy swap - definitely a great way to improve the safety of your lights without a full replacement

These lamps blew me away with the brightness. I was only going to replace one side and leave my working lamp alone. Once I saw the difference I replaced both

I am impressed with the light output of the LED lights, and happy with the clear outer bulbs. So much better than the original incandescents. There was some confusion about using the original green and red bulbs, no need, and will most likely reduce the light output. Seems a little counter productive.

Q&A

Please note, Aircraft Spruce's personnel are not certified aircraft mechanics and can only provide general support and ideas, which should not be relied upon or implemented in lieu of consulting an A&P or other qualified technician. Aircraft Spruce assumes no responsibility or liability for any issue or problem which may arise from any repair, modification or other work done from this knowledge base. Any product eligibility information provided here is based on general application guides and we recommend always referring to your specific aircraft parts manual, the parts manufacturer or consulting with a qualified mechanic.

Q: Who is the manufacturer of this Wingtip Tail LED set?

Britta Products Inc.

Q: Our A&P wants to know if these parts are TSO before he is willing to sign off. Are these LED bulbs FAA Approved?

These bulbs do not have FAA TSO Approval.

Q: So can you use the clear/white bulb in the exsiting wing tip lights with the red & green glass lenses, instead of getting the clear plastic lense & using the red & green bulbs ?

This kit recommends using the red and green bulbs behind colored lenses. If you were to use the white bulb behind a red or green lens it would wash out the color a little. Red and green behind the same colored lens makes for a brighter red/green.

Q: Do these come with any data sheets on brightness and color?

These do not come with data sheets in the box. We have added the only available data sheet to the web page in the Documents tab.

Q: My parts manual for the 1977 C-177 lists A7512-12, will they work at 12v?

They will replace the bulbs you have and work in your assemblies. However, they do not have approvals for certified aircraft, you would need to check with your A&P to see if they consider these a minor alteration.

Q: Will these fit a Grimes model B nav light as found on a Ercoupe?

Yes these have the correct base for that assembly.

Q: What is required to have them approved on certified approval by an IA a 337?

You would need to ask your IA in this case. They may be considered a minor change but that would be at the discretion of your IA/A&P.
