I bought this expecting to connect my single plug headset to this for my Icom a6. I did not realize that there is two different female connector for the headset. Can this end be changed?

Yes, the 11-18529 PTT switch would be appropriate to use with this adapter to an Icom radio.
This works with the A14. It is connected to the U-174 helicopter style plug. If you have a H10-13H this will work.
