The Gill Electric Company was founded by Mr. Lawrence Gill in 1920, in Redlands, California, where the factory remains today. At that time, Gill Electric manufactured lead-acid batteries for the automotive industry. During the war years, Gill manufactured batteries for military ground vehicles and aircraft; some of these batteries are still in production today. Gill Electric improved the drycharged process which provides a fresh charged product when the electrolyte is added. Gill has become the OEM "original equipment battery" for Raytheon, Cessna, LearJet, Mooney, Piper, Ayres, Airtractor, Maule, Scheizer and others in the aviation industry and Gill continues to be the industry's choice for quality battery products. |

Great battery OEM Cessna or Beech. I have never thought the very expensive Concordes are worth the extra money. The Gill batteries allow you to easily service them with water. The shelf life of a Gill before you put the acid in is basically forever so you can keep a spare but you have to boost charge the Concordes and so they are basically used when you install them. In our A36 Bonanza the battery is very easy to service since it is located on the right firewall in the engine compartment. All you need is a small ladder. The Concorde batteries have a slightly higher amp-hour capacity but this is meaningless in most applications since the big bore Continentals start right up so we seldom have to crank more than 3-4 seconds and if they dont something else is wrong. Go Gill!
good product, easy ordering, quick delivery

Yes, if you do not already have the electrolyte, we recommend buying the "With Acid" version since it will be shipped with the required amount of acid to use the battery.
The difference between the G-243S and the G-243 is that the 243S was a sealed battery and the 243 is a wet battery that you will need to pour the electrolyte into. The G-243S was replaced with the Gill 7243-14 LT battery. See our Part # 11-13534 to order this battery.
No, the battery without the acid is not considered dangerous goods for shipping.
We have added a Spec Sheet to the documents section of this web page. It contains the Drawing for the G-243.
The acid would be shipped in a separate container with the G-243 battery.
The acid does not have a shelf life limitation so that could potentially sit unused forever.
