Insulator Double Side 4

October 25, 2023

This insulation matt is an excellent material to work with and provides good quality sound proofing and insulating factor. I recommend the double sided foil material and foil tape the open ends.

This is the absolute best bang for the buck for keep noise, heat and even fumes outside the car. I used that wax paper backed aluminum tape that comes in rolls and is sold for taping ducting to seal the seams of this stuff. The floor section of my car is made up of at least a dozen separate sections so that it follows the contours of the floor. Once taped, it acts like one form fitted sheet of Insulator. Highly recommended!

Q: Is it self-extinguishing?

Yes, this material is self-extinguishing.

Q: What do you mean by double sided? Is there aluminum foil on both sides?

Yes, that is exactly right. It is a single layer of the insulation mat with foil on both sides.

Q: The last comment is not FAA approved. Does this mean the insulation, the glue, the tape, or all of it?

All of it. These insulators do not have any FAA approval. Experimental aircraft only.

Q: Regarding the foil backed insulation: When installed, can it be painted?

It can be painted, although this will not allow the product to reflect the heat.

Q: What is the approximate thickness of this product (part # 09-06016)?

This insulator is approximately 3/8" thick.

Q: What is the thickness of the aluminum foil? Is it durable enough to be used directly on the floor where it can resist tearing?

You would not want to use this as a flooring without covering it with a carpet or other material. The product is 3/8" thick over all and the foil is very thin and would tear if stepped on repeatedly.

Q: What kind of material can I used as a thin padding that can be used to sew to leather or vinyl for a quilting affect for door and wall panels

Per the manufacturer: We have not tested this material for this application, and we are not confident that it would work.

Q: Are the 4 X 6 panels in inches?

4 X 6 feet.
