Q: What ratio do I mix the Polyester Gel Coats with?

Per the supplier: the ratio is 2% by volume or 10cc's per pint to give you a starting point.

Q: Is the gel coat supplied as a two part mixture?

Yes, the gel coat comes with the catalyst.

Q: Can this polyester gel coat be used as the surface for an epoxy part lay-up or is it only compatible with polyester lay-ups?

No, this is only compatible with polyester lay-ups. We can special order the epoxy lay-up version. Please contact sales and reference vendor # 06481 and vendor part # ES-221-Q for current price and lead time.

Q: Can this be used as the surface of a mold?

This is not a tooling gel coat, but it can be used.

Q: Do these polyester gel coats include wax for curing?

Wax is not needed for this gel coat, it will cure with a hard surface. It does require MEKP to catalyze it. We do offer surface curing agent, 01-07100, which is used with polyester resin that does not already have wax mixed in the resin.

Q: is this a sprayable product? What tip size/air pressure is recommended?

Yes, this is sprayable. 2.0-2.5 is most common, based off the gun, HVLP can be 35-59 psi.
