This is the fourth unit that I have had to install into the clients aircraft. Theyre made in China. Which says it all. Theyre junk. I have no luck getting HET personnel to respond to my complaints.

R1224Bs-14 Hartzell Plane Power Voltage Regulator 14V

Installed on a Seneca II after having lots of issues with the old Lamar regulators. The R1124Bs fit in exactly the same spot, easy to install, very clear instructions and Hartzell is available if you need help. The load meters have never been this steady, you can tell which alternator is designated as the primary, my IA said these were the only way to go. They take up less room, seem to be much more efficient.

Like the product and love the fast and dependable service. I do need a favor though, I dropped/lost one of the screws where the wires get attached. I wonder if I could get another one. Regards, Donnie

Controls the alternator and voltage just fine as intended. But the lamp terminal which provides a ground to light an indicator lamp for alternator failure can only handle 100 miliamps which is less than most incandescent bulbs draw so beware of this if youre trying to use your stock idiot light. Also the terminal strip uses tiny screws which are a bit difficult to start once removed.

So far, so good.....

This regulator appears to work fine. There is not a wiring diagram nor is there enough technical information (like turning pot counterclockwise to increase voltage) The B&C I had went to the shop 2 times in 5 years tripping the alt. Field. Hope this one lasts.

I would have given it 5 stars if Hartzell had put a screw hole in the component cover for adjusting the voltage. Additionally, it would be nice to have larger screw terminals to attach circular terminals. Although, Im very please to report that after replacing the Lamars with these voltage regulators the alternators are no longer arbitrarily falling offline for no rime or reason(probably dead spots on the Lamar carbon potentiometers). Very stable regs! I recommend these VRs to this point. Im hoping they last more than 3 years that some reviewers have claimed. 4.5 Stars
