This is the most powerful plug available and was designed specifically for GA aircraft use. Seems like a good product. I installed it in a forward-positioned drain hole so it can be removed and inspected after draining the oil from the rear-mounted Saf-Air valve.

Not rounded at the top, but nicely manufactured, the magnetic part seems perfectly embedded on the plug. i think it will be used on my new performance engine.

If there is any ferrous metal suspended in your oil, this plug will hold on to it! The magnet is so powerful my compass is still spinning (Unfortunately it had metal particles stuck to it while in the plastic packaging, not easy to clean this off)
ull disclosure, I purchased this drain plug as I was searching for a heavy duty magnet for a rear end in a car. However, upon receiving the magnet I am a little disappointed in the fit and finish of what I received. The magnetic portion measures 11/16ths long and has a flat cut end, where the photo show a magnet that proportionally to the base, looks almost an inch tall and having a nice polished domed end. The threading on the base is dinged up from being shipped from the manufacturer to the vender in bulk packaging. If you are threading this into and aluminum housing, might want to chase the threads with a die if this is a big concern to you. Finally, as the other review mentioned, there are some minor amounts of metal flakes on the product from manufacturing, and my (1) plug it was shipped in a little zip-lock bag inside of a bubble mailer. Recommend getting tracking shipping as magnets can get stuck to mail processing equipment and lost if packaging rips open.
