Overview

Note: Facet fuel pumps are not FAA approved and are not intended for aircraft use.

These pumps measure less than 3" in any direction and weigh only 18 oz. Fuel is supplied as soon as the ignition is turned on so the engine will start faster at colder temps. Built-in pressure relief prevents flooding and assures fast re-starts on hottest days. The all-steel plated case is water tight. Mounts with two bolts. For best results, mount the pump close to the fuel tank and below the liquid level.

The tank is self-priming to 12" to 36" Lift min dry. Standard 12 V models require only 1 amp at max. delivery. Many models are available, but these are the ones recommended by Rutan Aircraft Factory, Stoddard Hamilton and many other aircraft designers. All of the pumps shown feature the all nylon valve and plunger as specified by Rutan Aircraft in the Canard Pusher newsletter.

Reviews

Appears to be very good quality and functions very well. Im using it as a priming pump and backup to the original mechanical pump on a 1939 Mercury V8 engine, regulated to ~2 psi output.

Use this pump as an addition to your fuel system. Great as a backup pump for two stroke Rotax engines and as a diagnostic tool for determining the integrity of a Mikuni pump

Looks like a good product. Cannot comment on the longevity because I havent used more then half hour continuously. I am running it when I start my Lycoming O-360 on my RV-8 in build processes. I had a problem on my fuel system I thought it was this pump. I purchased another one and found out the the one I purchased several months ago was made in USA and this one is Assembled in USA. Did not like that. However, both pumps work out fine out of the box. For how long? I have no idea. No experience with long time usage. Time will tell. Hopefully not when I needed the most. One thing I know, I am not buying anything from china anymore.

Q: Hi, Would these pumps work for fuels in gaseous forms as well? Thanks

Per the manufacturer, no, these are not recommended for fuels in the gaseous state.

Q: Does the 40108 pump have AN flair fittings at 37 degrees?

Yes, it has a 3/8" male flare fitting, AN-6, attached to the pump.

Q: How do you identify which model a pump is? There are various numbers on them (especially a lot of patent numbers), but I can't find any number that matches the numbers you show here in the online catalog.

The part number of the pump is always etched into the mounting flange on these Facet fuel pumps. For example, the 40105 has 40 105 etched into the mounting flange on one side, and on the other flange is 12V 14D.

Q: Regarding pump # 40108, can this pump be mounted in any position? .....vertical, upside down, etc.

It can be mounted vertically, but the manufacturer does not recommend it being mounted upside down.

Q: Hello- pump number 40241 is listed as having female flare fittings. Does that mean AN fittings or what? More info please! Thanks.

The unit has female SAE J512 threads, which have a 45* flare. AN fittings have a 37* flare, and can not be used with each other.

Q: I recently bought a fuel pump pn:40289 as a backup for my other fuel pump. It will be installed on a Challenger 2 with a rotax 503. My question is what fittings do I need so I can connect my Bing fuel lines directly to the pump?

The pump you ordered has 1/8" NPT threads, and the carbs use 1/4" fuel line. You'll want to use two brass nipples part number AN840-4, and whatever clamps you prefer.

Q: I have been looking at a low pressure pump with no check valve to use as a primer pump to my fuel injected engine. In many places on the internet I have found these pumps with a large warning saying not to use with fuel injected engines. Can these pumps be used in a fuel injected setup as a primer for the main pumps?

Yes, you can use these pumps as the priming or lift pump, however you should choose the pump with enough GPH for your engine.

Q: Is Facet model number 40178 rated for Avgas?

Yes, this should work just fine with Avgas.

Q: Does FEP-42SV include the fuel pump or is it just an installation kit?

This includes the pump as well.

Q: What is meant by positive shut off on a facet fuel pumps?

It means when the pump is shut off the fuel for the most part wont pass through the pump. So this would not be the pump you want if you have another fuel pump that is drawing through one with a positive shut off.
