Overview

Electric auxiliary dry air pumps are recommended for single engine aircraft flown in IFR conditions as a back-up in the event the primary vacuum pump fails. These pumps are FAA-PMA approved as direct replacements for Airborne pumps previously installed under STC eligibility and STC approval for these pumps for many additional aircraft is pending.

Q: Does this Tempest Electric Aux Dry Air Pump unit include a mounting bracket?

Per Vendor: 4A3-1 (10-00584) is 14vdc and is shipped with mounting bracket. The 4A2-1 (10-00585) is 28vdc and is not shipped with bracket.

Q: Does this pump have the same service life of the airborne Pump ( 500 Hrs / 10 Years)?

Per Tempest: It is determined by the aircraft manufactures maintenance manual. It should give times for replacement or overhaul period of items.

Q: Does the Tempest Electric Aux. Dry Air Pump include an elapsed time indicator?

It has a Wear Indicator Port that would allow you the check the vane condition but no elapsed time indicator.
