weather service packages. The GDL 69 and GDL 69A SXM receiver is the latest addition to a large lineup of datalink weather receivers that offer pilots access to SiriusXM aviation weather information both on the ground and in the air. When paired with a compatible display and/or the Flight Stream 110/Flight Stream 210 and a compatible mobile device using the Garmin Pilot application, SiriusXM aviation weather information delivers coveragethroughout the continental United States and parts of Canada and Puerto Rico while providing pilots access to additional weather products. The base weather service now includes lightning, cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-ground activity, graphical winds aloft, temperatures aloft, AIRMETS, and SIGMETS. Similar to earlier generation receivers, the GDL 69 and GDL 69A SXM Receivers offer important weather products such as radar, aviation routine weather reports (METARs), terminal aerodrome forecasts (TAFs), temporary flight restrictions (TFRs), lightning, turbulence forecasts, and more. Data subscriptions and coverage area information are available from SiriusXM. In addition to providing detailed weather information, the audio-enabled GDL 69A SXM receiver provides SiriusXM Satellite Radio entertainment in the cockpit. When paired with a GDL 69A SXM receiver and a Flight Stream 110 or Flight Stream 210, a free version of Garmin Pilot allows pilots and passengers to view and select radio stations, control volume and select favorite stations. The new GDL 69 and GDL 69A SXM receiver uses the same antenna, provides pin-for-pin compatibility and slides into an existing GDL 69 rack*. With very similar weight and electrical load, the GDL 69 and GDL 69A SXM receivers are designed as a direct replacement for existing installations. They provide weather and music features included with your subscription without the need for a software update, although software updates for individual display devices are scheduled to become available in the future.
*The Helicopter versions of the GDL 69 and GDL 69A SXM receiver may require a new, helicopter specific rack and/or backplate when it becomes available for sale. More information will be available once the helicopter version begins shipping. |
The Garmin GDL 69 and GDL 69A SXM datalink receivers offer access to weather service packages with lower activation fees, which are made available by SiriusXM and their latest G4 satellite network.
