Note: THIS ITEM IS NOT SOLD AS A PAIR. PRICING IS PER UNIT.

Cessna Articulating Seats have two crank handles located on the front bottom portion of the seat carriage. One crank handle is used to move the seat up and down vertically (infinite adjustment), the other crank handle moves the seat back from a vertical position to a reclined position (infinite adjustment). These two seat handle cranks allow the seat to be adjusted in an infinite number of positions suitable to each person. Some of the key adjustment components are as follows.

The Seat Back Adjustment crank handle is attached to a jack screw which is attached to the Seat Back Crank Assembly Tube which has two right angle tube terminations of approximately 3.5 inches in length. These right-angle tube terminations pass through (left and right) Rear Torque Tube Bell Cranks and then through the Seat Pivot Brackets. At the end of the two right angle tube terminations the Seat Back Adjustment Bell Cranks are fixed into position at the end of the 3.5” TUBE with two roll pins, one roll pin on each side of the assembly.

THE PROBLEM: The wall thickness is too thin on the OEM bushing, this is the component that fits on the 3.5” tube. Over time the roll pins holes wear oblong (non-concentric) holes in this component part (bushing) of the Seat Back Adjustment Bell Crank Assembly. This is a HIGH-WEAR component which when worn can cause an unsafe engagement of the vertical adjustment of the seat back. The higher the number of adjustment cycles the higher the wear, as noticed with many Flight School operations.

THE SOLUTION: The WALL thickness of the Affordable Aviation bushing has been increased! Our FAA/PMA approved replacement will by design increase the service life of this part!

When the crank handle is turned it actuates the jack screw which is connected to the Seat Back Crank Assembly Tube, the right angle of the tube causes the seat back to pivot fore and aft. The cam of the Seat Back Adjustment Bell Crank (another HIGH WEAR area) pivots on a pin located in slots at the end of the vertical sides of the seat back frame. This slotted portion of the Seat frame allows the seat back to be pushed forward allowing the rear seat passengers to exit with ease.
