POL-AIR B310 PORTABLE AIR CHILLER SYSTEM

Four years of research by Pol-Air has resulted in the patented proprietary turbine pump for the B310 and is the heart of the new technology. This pump is powered by an ultra-efficient high speed DC brushless motor and can produce up to 3.5 inches of water pressure at 14.3 CFM in the 12vDC units, and 4.5 inches of water pressure at 20.5 CFM in the 24vDC units. This pressure delivers cool dry airflow through 1.25” diameter featherweight EPE hoses to the front edge of passenger seats or directly under your shirt, making microenvironmental cooling possible for up to four people.

Why you get 70º F (or cooler) dry air with half the humidity of outside air? We draw air through ice alone (no water). When you draw air through ice you lower humidity. When you blow air through water, like a swamp cooler, you increase humidity. This is not a swamp cooler. Water is eliminated from the system.

As humid air passes through ice, water vapor will condense and plate out on the ice and drips out of the system through the drain with the liquid ice melt. Thus the air produced has usually half (or less) of the humidity of the ambient air. Instinctively, you know this, as the driest place on earth is Antarctica. Water vapor there can only exist as ice crystals in the air. Humidity is usually 0.5% to 1.5%!

Portable and Easy to Place in Your Aircraft, the B310 Never Has to Be Removed Once Strapped In
There is no mechanical or electrical installation. The B310 is classified as a carry-on device as it requires no permanent attachment to the airframe or electrical system. You simply strap the B310 to the airframe in your baggage compartment or onto an empty seat using the secure handles that are built onto the unit. In addition to safety, strapping the unit and cover avoids the potential of spilling ice in your aircraft during turbulent flight.

Once you strap down the unit, you have the option of leaving the entire unit permanently strapped in. Just pick up ice on the way to your aircraft, remove the cover, and drop the ice in. Though the cooler cover is constructed to fit snugly to the high quality chest and the running turbine makes additional suction that holds the lid, we recommend extending your tie down strap to include the cover should you fly into turbulent air.

You never risk spilling water though your aircraft because you add only ice – not water. The melting ice water immediately drains out directly via a drain tube (if available in your aircraft). If you cannot have a drain tube (pressurized aircraft/rental), you can use the proprietary drain basin provided with the B310 that locks to the bottom of the ice chest when strapped down. This basin is designed with a hand bulb and tube to run forward to the pilot. Thus you can bulb yourself a glass of water from the left seat in flight. On arrival, hang the hand bulb out the door, squeeze the bulb a couple of times, and you can easily siphon the entire catch basin of all its water. No water is thereby left in the aircraft to raise its humidity and corrode avionic contacts!
