If an amphibian lands on water with the landing gear in the down position, results can be disastrous. The gear warning system is designed to provide an additional margin of safety for amphibian pilots by providing visual and voice warnings of the gear position for both water and runway landings. The unit works on airspeed. As the aircraft slows for a landing, the system checks the gear position indicators to determine if the wheels are up or down. The pilot will hear a voice message which corresponds to the position of the landing gear (water landing, or runway landing). If the gear is in correct position for the type of landing being made, then pushes a panel switch acknowledgeing they are correctly positioned. Size: 2.5”x3.25”; Wt: 7 oz. Not FAA approved.
