With over half a century and forty thousand hours of experience Howard Fried offers a wealth of insight on matters aeronautical. Although he has never practiced law, he has a law degree and has passed the Michigan Bar. Howard Fried trained in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II and has an excess of 40,000 hours of flight experience in all types of General Aviation airplanes, both normally aspirated and turbocharged as well as several turbo props and jets. Fried has flown everything from 40 horsepower Cubs to Citations and Lear Jets, from gliders to floatplanes. Fried founded a very active flight school in 1964 where he trained pilots for all certificates and ratings. In a career spanning seventeen years as a Designated Pilot Examiner until victimized by rogue FAA officials, he administered over four thousand certification flight tests for all certificates and ratings. Fried is a lecturer and speaker on Aviation Education and Safety and an expert witness in aviation litigation. Throughout his entire career he has dealt with the "friendly feds" and has come to know a great deal about the inner workings of the only agency of the United States Government that is authorized to promulgate and enfore its own rules.
